Neuromodulators: Botox, Dysport & Xeomin
Neuromodulators are injectable treatments that temporarily relax muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles — the lines that form when you make facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows.
Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) is the most well-known brand, FDA-approved since 2002 for cosmetic use. It is effective for forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines, with results lasting 3-4 months.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) has a slightly different formulation that may spread more easily, making it particularly effective for larger treatment areas like the forehead. Some patients report that Dysport kicks in faster (2-3 days vs. 3-5 for Botox).
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a "naked" neurotoxin without the accessory proteins found in Botox and Dysport. This may reduce the risk of developing antibody resistance with long-term use. Results and duration are comparable to Botox.
Your injector will recommend the best option based on your anatomy, treatment goals, and response history.
